About the Royalty and Their Role

• Serve: royalty serves for 1 year, from October 2026-October 2027

• Crowning: royalty are awarded sashes, and Miss./Ms. PS Rodeo are awarded crowns in addition

Expectations of Royalty

• Fundraise: each winning competitor will be expected to host 2 beer busts during their reign, and are encouraged to fundraise as much as possible for the organization

• Represent PS Hot Rodeo: attend gay rodeos as a representative of our chapter, as well as attend local, state-wide, and national events

• March: March in the Palm Springs Pride Parade (November 2026) and the Cathedral City LGBT Days (March 2027)

• Hot Rodeo Weekend: fullfill various roles at the 2027 Palm Springs Hot Rodeo

Requirements to Compete

• Must be or become a member of GSGRA-Palm Springs Chapter

• Must raise $100 toward the Palm Springs Rodeo by October 16
  (suggested: sell 4 tickets to the "Fall Cattle Call" fundraiser)

• Must compete in each section of the competition

Categories

• Mr. PS Rodeo - man identifying persons

• Ms. PS Rodeo - woman identifying persons

• Mx. PS Rodeo - gender non-conforming persons

• Miss PS Rodeo - drag queens

• MisTer PS Rodeo - drag kings

Criteria for Judging

• Western Wear: show off your best western outfit. Points for style, composure, and presence on stage.

• Performance: each contestant will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to present themselves to the audience, either in song, speech, lipsyncing, demonstration of rodeo talents, or in ways of your own imagining. Scored on entertaining value, audience response, relevance to country/western heritage and entertainment. 

• Questions: answer three questions on stage about your journey:

  1. What does gay rodeo mean to you?

  2. As Mr./Ms./Mx./Miss/MisTer Palm Springs Hot Rodeo, how would you make a positive impact on our community?

  3. What's your vision for the future of Gay Rodeo and how do you hope to personally contribute to that vision?
