On January 30, 2000, a meeting was held in Rancho Mirage. The purpose was to establish a new chapter of the G.S.G.R.A. in the Palm Springs desert. The meeting was called to order by interim President Barry Hamm and lasted over 2 hours. The founding charter members included Judy Galloway, Rosie Sierra, J.G. Avila, Lorry King, John Matthews, Frank Delgado, Doug Beck and Barry Hamm. At the meeting, updates were given on paid memberships and transfers into the newly established chapter.
Judy Galloway named the chapter “Greater Palm Springs Rodeo Chapter”. J.G. Avila began work on a new logo (a different logo is in use today) and Barry Hamm began research into the geographical boundaries of this new chapter. Within months, memberships increased, meetings were held and the future planned.
